The Associate contributes to the success of the Research and Ratings Support team, by providing a range of data and analytic services that contribute to the overall credit analysis functions performed by the MIS analytic teams. This internal facing role is part of the team that works directly with rating and research support analysts, prepares data and various discrete pieces of analytical work such as spreading, data gathering and analysis for credit ratings, research analytical market outreach and presentations, under the guidance of the RRS and R&R teams. This role provides opportunities to take additional responsibilities at key interval. Candidates will require solid accounting background with strong focus in financial analysis. They will be expected to demonstrate their ability to work effectively in a team environment with matrix reporting. The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong organizational skills, demonstrate attention to detail, and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities•Prepare a variety of discrete credit process inputs, perform preliminary analyses to identify trends in data, and apply reasoning to the completed work product.

Perform financial statement analysis using accounting and finance principles to read and understand financial statements and other disclosures related to debt issuers’ performance.
Apply Moody’s relevant methodology standards and requirements to financial data and make appropriate adjustments.
Create a variety of standard initial work package items that serve as starting point to the ratings and research process including data, spreadsheets, charts, and tables:

Initiate/escalate deeper reviews when necessary

What you’ll do:

Identify Early Warning signals using market indicators such as Stock prices, Moody’s EDF, Credit Default Swaps, Short Interest volumes, Bond prices, Industry/sector news, change in regional or global outlook and macro-economic factors
Focus on contributing towards strategic objectives of risk mitigation and profitability improvement by highlighting Early Warning signals of Credit deterioration, Low Return analysis and RWA optimization
Perform stress testing and scenario analysis on the wholesale credit and lending portfolio based on changes in macro-economic, systemic and idiosyncratic factors by stressing company financials
Conduct deep dive analysis on the low return clients and key exposures in terms of loans and advances, net interest margin, limit, utilisation and RWA
Work independently; lead execution on straightforward situations; effectively deploy internal and external resources
Present ideas and thematic reviews effectively to wider wholesale portfolio management team including regional heads

Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Must have 4 – 8 years of relevant work experience
MBA in Finance from a reputed institute. Additional professional qualifications or progress towards CFA, FRM certifications will be preferred.
Highly self-motivated, resilient, pragmatic and delivery focused with drive to learn new concepts and skills.
Excellent communications – written and verbal and interpersonal / team skills. Should be comfortable in effectively presenting their ideas.
Strong understanding of fundamental analysis, markets, corporate finance, banking and associated Bank book products & trade products
Good understanding of credit risk concepts such as Expected Loss, Risk Weighted Assets, Exposure at Default, Probability of Default, Credit Risk Rating and Loss Given Default
Understanding of accounting principles, especially fair valuation, general and specific loan loss provisions is preferable
Strong competency in Microsoft office applications, especially MS Excel, Power-point presentations
Experience in using external data sources such as Factset, Refinitiv, etc.
Additional capability to work on Python/ SQL / SAS or database queries will be preferred
Ability to work in a project based environment with hard deadlines
Good time management and prioritization skills; ability to juggle between multiple tasks
Experience and ability to operate in a global setting / interact with Business Partners and Senior Management
